Finance Special Projects Director
Job Title: Finance Special Projects Director
Location: London / Hybrid Option
Overview:
We are seeking a Finance Special Projects Director to lead the operational integration of newly acquired businesses into our Client’s organisation – a Digital Marketing Agency Group. This hands-on, high-impact role is focused on post-acquisition finance integration and migration, ensuring that new entities are smoothly aligned with our core financial processes, systems, and controls.
You will act as the bridge POST deal completion to arrive at business-as-usual status, working closely with the C-Suite, divisional finance leads, and functional stakeholders to deliver successful integration outcomes. This role requires an agile, resourceful leader who thrives in ambiguity, adapts quickly, and can move seamlessly from one project to the next.
A mandatory: We are seeking a candidate who has extensive experience working in a creative agency or digital marketing agency background and will not be considering applicants from out of the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Finance Integration: Oversee the end-to-end finance integration process for newly acquired companies, including systems migration, process alignment, and control harmonization.
- Operational Delivery: Drive day-to-day execution of integration activities — from mapping financial workflows and data migration to coordinating with IT, HR, and operational teams on dependencies. Identify gaps and take appropriate action to bridge these areas
- Change Management: Work collaboratively with acquired company leadership to embed new financial practices and ensure a smooth cultural and procedural transition.
- Project Leadership: Develop and manage integration project plans, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within scope.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key liaison between the corporate finance function and acquired business teams, communicating progress, risks, and solutions to executive stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to standardize and optimize post-acquisition finance processes for future integrations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with corporate FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Legal, and Operations to ensure financial integrity and alignment post-acquisition.
- Issue Resolution: Anticipate challenges, troubleshoot integration roadblocks, and develop pragmatic, data-driven solutions.
- Knowledge Transfer: Document integration learnings and build playbooks to enhance the efficiency and consistency of future M&A integrations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA or CPA/ACA /CIMA/ACCA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including exposure to M&A integration, transformation, or project delivery.
- An excellent understanding of service-lines at creative agencies and digital marketing agencies so prior agency experience is essential
- Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional projects in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Deep understanding of finance operations (GL, FP&A, systems, controls, reporting) and ERP migration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior executives and lead and nurture diverse teams across geographies.
- Hands-on, action-oriented approach with the ability to work independently and manage ambiguity.
- Adaptable mindset – comfortable switching between strategic planning and tactical execution.
