Director of Audience Growth and Monetisation

London | Hybrid | Up to £100,000

Some media businesses start with a growth strategy.

Others start with a great idea, build an audience people genuinely care about, and then reach the point where the opportunity becomes much bigger than the original format.

This is the second kind.

Over the past several years, this independent creator led media business has built one of the most engaged audiences in its category through long form conversations, storytelling and content designed to help people think differently about performance, leadership, wellbeing and personal growth.

What began with a flagship content proposition has developed into something much broader.

Today the business is building across podcasts, YouTube, social, events, partnerships and new content formats, with a significant catalogue of evergreen content and an audience that already extends well beyond the UK.

The foundations are there.

Now the question is how much bigger this can become.

They are looking for a Director of Audience Growth and Monetisation to answer that question.

You will take ownership of how audiences discover the content, how they move between platforms, what makes them return and ultimately how that attention creates greater commercial value.

YouTube will be a major focus.

They need someone who understands the platform at a genuinely strategic and technical level. Someone who can look beyond subscriber numbers and understand what is driving views, watch time, returning audiences, session depth and long term channel growth.

You will work closely with producers and creative teams to turn those insights into action.

That could mean changing how content is packaged, identifying stronger topics, improving titles and thumbnails, building repeatable formats or finding completely new ways to distribute existing content.

There is also a substantial archive.

Years of conversations and intellectual property already exist, creating a significant opportunity to rethink how older content is resurfaced, repackaged and introduced to new audiences rather than allowing its value to disappear after the initial release.

Podcast growth will be equally important.

You will help the business understand where new listeners can be found, how audiences move between audio, video and social, and which formats create deeper and more frequent engagement.

But this is not simply an audience development role.

Growth needs to translate into commercial value.

You will work on improving advertising yield across YouTube, including pre roll and mid roll performance, while exploring new markets, audience revenue opportunities and ways to build stronger direct relationships with the community.

You will also bring more structure to experimentation.

Rather than relying on instinct alone, you will build testing and measurement frameworks that help the business understand what changed, why it worked and whether it can be repeated.

The right person will have already grown meaningful audiences across YouTube, podcasts, creator led media, entertainment or digital publishing.

Deep YouTube expertise is particularly important.

They want someone who can explain how they have materially increased views, watch time, subscriber growth and returning audiences, and importantly, exactly what they changed to make that happen.

The same applies commercially.

You should be able to demonstrate where your decisions have improved advertising performance, monetisation or the overall value of an audience.

This role also requires strong creative judgement.

Data can tell you that something worked. The best audience leaders can also understand why.

You will need to earn the trust of producers, hosts and creative teams, use insight to make their work more successful and challenge existing thinking without turning creativity into a spreadsheet exercise.

You will lead a team, work closely with senior leadership and have genuine influence over how the wider media business develops.

For someone who understands the combination of content, audience, platforms and commercial growth, this is a rare opportunity.

You are not being asked to create an audience from nothing.

You are being given a successful media brand, an engaged community, a valuable content library and significant room to grow them.

The opportunity is to work out just how far they can go.
